How to Organize an All Hands Meeting for Your Employees

The most effective method to Organize an All Hands Meeting for Your Employees The most effective method to Organize an All Hands Meeting for Your Employees Does your organization hold all-hands gatherings? If not, you should consider arranging such a gathering. Obviously, you ought to never hold a gathering absolutely on the grounds that you need to have a thing marked off your plan for the day, so heres why, when and how to sort out an all-hands meeting. Why You Might Want to Hold an All Hands Meeting? Here and there you have to get data out to the whole staff, and an all-hands meeting is a brilliant chance. Indeed, you can convey the data through email, yet relying upon the data, you may find that conveying it in person is a progressively compelling approach to impart. Moreover, contingent upon how huge and spread out your business is, the all-hands meeting is a decent chance to assemble groups and permit workers to connect with one another. also, permit workers to connect with one another. On the off chance that your business has a few destinations, a worker at site A may have an issue that somebody at site B can tackle, however on the off chance that they dont realize that individual exists, they wont request help. At last, an all-hands meeting permits your workers to pose inquiries within the sight of their partners. This saves your time since you can share the proper answer once instead of rehashing it again and again for different workers. What Issues Are Best Covered in an All Hands Meeting? These kinds of issues are commonly better imparted when conveyed in an all-hands meeting instead of through email or requesting that nearby administrators advise their staff. Presenting new senior initiative. On the off chance that you have another president or CEO, you need her to acquaint herself with the whole staff. It has a major effect to individuals to know the face behind the name and strategy changes.New organization objectives. At the point when your senior group needs to impart the organization objectives to the staff, having everybody in a similar room is an extraordinary thought. It permits individuals to pose inquiries, so they comprehend the rationale and thinking behind the goals. When there is a huge change. This can be another organization obtaining, a divestment, a rearrangement, or anything that addresses all regions of the organization. Once more, transparent correspondence are the objectives here. These are, obviously, by all account not the only motivations to assemble an all-hands conference, however ensure that an all-hands meeting is the most ideal approach to convey data before you go to the difficulty to sort out an all-hands meeting. The most effective method to Organize an All-Hands Meeting The initial step, as tended to above, is having a helpful reason for an all-hands meeting. When you have a reason, you can plan and hold the gathering. To start with, thoroughly consider the coordinations. You may find that it is amusing to pick and welcome the speakers, set up the reports, and plan for systems administration time, however on the off chance that you fall flat on the coordinations side, your all-hands meeting wont work. You have to manage these issues for a fruitful all-hands meeting. Area. On the off chance that your business is little and you would all be able to fit around the meeting table, at that point this issue is tackled. In the event that your organization is enormous even if all of you work in a similar structure, youll most likely need to lease an assembly hall or gathering place for your gathering. Ensure you have seating for everyone.Travel. Will individuals need to head out significant distances to go to your all-hands meeting? On the off chance that individuals need to drive from a separation, ensure you start the gathering late enough that your staff doesnt need to venture out from home at 4:00 am to make it to the gathering. Keep in mind, venturing out from home early is a difficulty for some. Reasonableness. An all-hands eye to eye meeting might be the most ideal approach to present another CEO. Be that as it may, on the off chance that it includes flying individuals in from different areas, and putting them up in lodgings, while your workplaces in these areas shut down for various days, its likely not the best thought. Rather, consider doing video meetings. Dont permit individuals to watch the video meeting from their work areas, however request that they meet up by area for the group building chance of viewing the presentation. Food. In the event that this is a short one-hour meeting presenting the CEO, youll simply need an area. In the event that its daily long meeting including different speakers and workshops, youll need to organize nourishment for lunch and breaks. Who Needs to Present at an All-Hands Meeting? With these coordinations arranged, you simply need to mastermind the speakers. Youll need to have broad changes presented by the CEO/Owner/President. Departmental heads can clarify issues that are applicable to their areas of expertise, however clarifications about all inclusive activities need to originate from the top. Normally, a change to HR strategy can emerge out of the Chief HR Officer, and a move in advertising can emerge out of the Chief Marketing Officer, however the general arrangement including objectives, system, and vision needs to originate from the top. Ensure that all workers are incorporated or it is anything but an all-hands meeting. In the event that the data is just pertinent to directors, at that point for what reason would you carry the individual supporters of the gathering? On the off chance that the progressions just influence IT, why is bookkeeping setting aside the effort to go to this gathering? What Needs to Happen at an All-Hands Meeting? All data you give at an all-hands addressing should be important, ideal, basic, and (ideally) fascinating. Of course, presenting how your organization will conform to new government guidelines is probably not going to bring about cheering groups. In any case, recall, you are bound to connect with individuals on the off chance that you present the data in an intriguing manner. Notwithstanding the speakers and workshops (if pertinent), ensure you give time to systems administration. Systems administration is frequently thought of as something you do to secure new positions, however you can utilize organizing inside too. You need your staff to know one another. Give unofficial IDs (on the off chance that you dont by and large wear identifications) that show names and titles and areas. The general objective of an all-hands meeting is to unite the organization workers. You need individuals to leave feeling like the gathering merited their time. On the off chance that you cannot get the advantageous inclination, skirt the all-hands meeting and convey an email with the data.

Three signs that you really shouldnt have taken that counter offer Viewpoint careers advice blog

Three signs that you really shouldn’t have taken that counter offer If you’re reading this, then I’m guessing the past couple of months have been quite the journey for you. After some careful contemplation, you realised that for whatever reason you weren’t happy in your role, and you made the decision to leave. Following a period of dedicated job searching, which involved meeting your recruiter and developing this relationship, building your online brand, and sending off tailored applications, you were asked to interview for a promising new opportunity. After a series of meetings with the hiring manager, much to your delight, you were offered the job. Then, after all of that, your current employer threw you a curve ball and made you a counter offer, one which you found hard to turn down. Whilst you were flattered at the time, the initial excitement soon wore off, only to be replaced with a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach, one which said that you have, perhaps, made a huge mistake. Don’t panic. Whether you made the wrong decision or not, you will bounce back from this and get your career back on track. In fact, some of our research recently found that when employees received a counter offer, 48 percent decided to leave anyway and 22 percent left within a year. So you are not alone. But, before you make any sudden moves, check for the below signs that this counter offer was definitely a mistake: 1. Nothing has really changed What were your reasons for leaving in the first place? For example, maybe you felt like you didn’t have a great work-life balance, and, to add insult to injury, the commitment you were putting into your job was going unnoticed. Do you feel these issues have been rectified, or is everything exactly the same as it was before? More often than not, counter offers include some great material perks; a higher salary, stock options and so forth. But they don’t always acknowledge the deeper reasons behind the employee’s motivation for looking for another role elsewhere, such as a lack of true workplace fulfilment, a passion for what they do, the opportunity for personal growth, and a sense of purpose. These are the things that material benefits simply can’t make up for. 2. Things are actually worse than before If you are being truthful with yourself, is work actually worse than it was before? Maybe you are left wondering why on earth your employer didn’t try harder to keep you until you handed in your notice. Surely they could see you were unhappy, and if they couldn’t, well then  that says it all. Perhaps your employer is demanding more from you as a result of your new salary package, despite the fact that, in your eyes, the counter offer is simply a fair reflection of the job you have been doing for months, or even years. Or maybe your colleagues have distanced themselves from you, losing trust because you were initially going to abandon ship. Whatever the case may be, you dread going into work more than before. 3. Your inner voice is screaming out to you Contrary to the above, perhaps you have all of the rewards and responsibilities that you were hoping for as a result of accepting the counter offer. Perhaps your colleagues are thrilled that you are staying, and are making you feel more welcome than ever before. But still something just doesn’t feel right. Although you can’t consciously pinpoint what is wrong, certain parts of your job may be bringing you down, whether it’s the subtle office politics at play or the lack of innovative and inspirational leaders. Whatever it is, your inner voice is telling you to leave. If this is the case, I would advise you listen to it. What to do next If you were blindsided by a lavish counter offer, then rest assured, you’re not the first, and you certainly won’t be the last. But now it’s time to be completely honest with yourself about what you do want from your career. Write down what you are looking for beyond the material perks. Perhaps it’s a better workplace culture, a more motivating boss or better progression opportunities. Think about what your current employer is lacking, and how your next employer will need to be different. Now you know what you need in order to feel fulfilled in your career, assess whether the first offer which you turned down could really tick these boxes. 4 Reasons Why Humility is Important in the Race to Success

4 Reasons Why Humility is Important in the Race to Success 4 Reasons why Humility is Important in the Race to Success Image Source: iStockFirst  of all, if you are not accustomed to collaboration, true teamwork and admitting that you are not always right, do not panic. No-one, most of all the experts who understand this field better than anyone, says that it is going to be easy.  Ego-driven thinking is what we are hardwired for. Ally that with a culture in which you’ve been able to pursue decisions on the basis that you know best, then you are going to be opening yourself to criticism, listening to constructive feedback, and learning how to take it on the chin.  It may not be easy, but it’s worth it in the long run. We take a look at 4 reasons why humility is important in the race to success. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); “Thank you. I appreciate that.”For an illustration of what we’re talking about here, let’s go  back  a few years to the show My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss. This show’s hook was that it was a parody of The Apprentice, and its winning job and cash priz e were fake… unbeknownst to the contestants.Although it  never took off, here is an example of how  the show  dished out some lessons in humility to its contestants, at the hands of the ‘boss’, Mr N Paul Todd (an anagram of Donald Trump).“Thank you. I appreciate that.” This is one of the things that Professor Edward Hessâ€"author of Learn or Die: Using Science to Build a Leading-Edge Learning Organisationâ€"maintains is essential to counteracting the “ego-based thinking” that he claims runs counter to effective leadership.Speaking to ‘Industry Week’, Prof Hess acknowledges that humility is the “mortal enemy” of the ego, as “ego-based thinking is our brain’s default positionâ€"we naturally seek to reinforce what we already think we know”.Here are a few reasons why we cannot any longer ignore the need to work on our egos:1. It’s Scientifically Proven Image Source:  Amazon Check Price As well  as the views of Prof Hess, we must also consider the work of Ja ck Zenger and Joseph Folkman, authors of The Extraordinary Leader: Turning Good Managers into Great Leaders  and other titles including Speed: How Leaders Accelerate Successful Execution  and The Handbook for Leaders: 24 Lessons for Extraordinary Leadership.Zenger and Folkman have mined “360-degree feedback data” on 69,000 managers as seen through the eyes of 750,000 respondents at hundreds of firms.Their findings demonstrated that the more managers underrated themselves, the more highly they were perceived as leaders. Why this is so interesting is that it suggests that even the impression of humility is an effective leadership trait. As Zenger and Folkman write: “an aura of humility is always superior”, whereas “an illusion of superiority (regardless of whether it is accurate) [is]… damaging to both leadership effectiveness and morale”. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 2. Benefits of Humility Outweigh ShortcomingsZenger  and Folkman admit that the da ta does not confirm whether there might be a downside to under-rating oneself as a leader. They do suspect that the answer is “sometimes”.They speculate that “some of these leaders expend a great deal of emotional energy in proving themselves to others. For others we think it also curtails their willingness to take on larger and more challenging assignments”.However, they conclude that the data from their 360-degree feedback researches proves that “it is valuable to realise that while I may be good at some things, Im probably not great at everything, and no matter how good I am, I can always get better”.With the data also concluding that leaders who under-rated their strengths tended to have more engaged employees, these are compelling conclusions, freighted with great possibilities for how to meet the challenges of the new.3. Humility Could Help Preserve Your Job Image Source: Amazon Check Price In a future  where robots and smart technologies are predicted  to take ove r key jobs, Prof Edward Hess says that the  jobs remaining for  humans will  involve the skills that technology cant replicate, such as critical thinking, innovation, creativity and emotional engagement with other humans. “All of these skills have one thing in common,” Hess writes: “They are enabled by humility”. The way ahead will not be easy, but Hess  is adamant that it must be face if humans are to remain competitive in the Smart Machine era. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); 4. Humility is a Win-Win Image Source: Amazon Check Price Humility  and empathy are two of the key qualities most marked in people of high emotional intelligence. They are qualities that help you ownership of and manage your feelings: and understand that success does not ‘happen’, but is attained by those who empower themselves to succeed. As US teacher, philosopher and coach Michael Benner points out: “Let’s drop the meme that happiness is a function of success: happiness an d love are the way to success.”And isn’t it clear, also, that humility and better understanding of your feelings, and of your relationship with the world and with other human beings, is going to make for a rounder, better-adjusted life in general? It’s  that humility and empathy help get resultsâ€"think of the times that these qualities are mentioned among the characteristics of the most notably successful leaders or achievers in life.Anyone who continues to doubt these conclusions, should investigate and explore  the achievements of their own role models and inspirations, and satisfy themselves. As Bill Gates said: “Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they cannot lose.”Don’t get caught short or compromise your leadership effectiveness through complacency or arrogance. Business really is a lifelong learning process. It’s imperative to accept the core centrality of that wisdom, and not just pay lip service to it.

Make an effort and see what occurs.

What You Need To Know Talent Supply and Demand, Pluralsight IQ (Pluralsight Iris)

What You Need To Know Talent Supply and Demand, Pluralsight IQ (Pluralsight Iris) I spent the last couple of days at the Pluralsight Live conference, which is the first time Pluralsight had a conference for customers. It was, of course, amazing. When you have a company that is as successful as Pluralsight, and as big as pluralsight, and puts so much attention to detail as they do, you get a phenomenal experience. Whats Pluralsight, you ask? It is a site that has over 5,000 technology courses to learn, and keep up with, technology. Is it like Lynda? Yes, but Pluralsight has more, and deeper, tech courses.  Is it like Udemy, Coursera, etc.?  Not really on those sites you buy individual courses, whereas on Pluralsight you buy a subscription (about $30/month) and you get access to the entire video library. Its pretty awesome.  Also, the courses on Pluralsight have been vetted and are curated they are very particular about the courses they allow in. You probably know that I have created 31 Pluralsight courses. 31 is a lot. It took my four years to get those done.  Im not actively creating Pluralsight courses right now.  As a Pluralsight author Ive been able to give some of my users a 30 day pass a perk of JibberJobber So, heres what you need to know: Pluralsight is changing the way companies educate their workforce. You could already figure that out by reading what I wrote above. This week, though, they launched something that I think will be revolutionary: Pluralsight IQ. Its such a simple idea that Im surprised that no one has been able to do this before. This is something that LinkedIn should have done years ago but they didnt.  Heres what I think is the most amazing aspect of this: Your company has needs lets say there is a new project and they need to put a team together. They need people with certain skills and experience but they arent sure where to go to find those people. They can do word-of-mouth, which is only as effective as the communication travels out (and gets back to the hiring managers). They can ask managers for recommendations, but that might lead to some people getting placed for favoritism (or a small network) and not based on merit. They can post internally, but they might miss the right internal applicants who are too busy, or having too much fun, with their own projects. They can post externally, but they might find people who are very expensive to find, hire, and train, and who are not as good as some of the internal experts available to them. Theres a NEED, and the search is on for the right talent, or SUPPLY. Pluralsight IQ  is a system to solve this problem. The way it works is that employees use Pluralsight for learning, and assessments (think tests), and certification, etc. As you use the system (more than just watching courses), you build out your Pluralsight IQ. This is a way that an employer can identify your strengths, knowledge, skills, aptitude, etc. Its a deep look into an existing workforce. Imagine you have one hundred people in your company (we heard from a company executive who has 250,000 people can you imagine how valuable this would be to a company that large? They have the talent, they just havent known how to tap into it the way Pluralsight IQ can!). The CEO says she wants to put together a team of five people to work on a new project. She has no idea who the right people are, but she knows what skills each team member should have.  With Pluralsight IQ, shell have the ability to look into her talent pool in a way that allows her to choose the right people for this small team. The SUPPLY was already there, she just didnt know what it was. Can you see how amazing this is? Our companies have NEEDS, we have SUPPLY, and now, Pluralsight IQ is the bridge that helps bring these two together.  Its really quite revolutionary, and Pluralsight is the first to crack this nut in a huge way. I imagine non-employees will allow access to their IQs to companies to make hiring and team building decisions in the future. When that happens, talent management and talent acquisition will be changed forever.  If they play it right, this can be the next revolutionary change since LinkedIn. Thats a big deal. Although there are other methods to success, but the key here is to find out what it takes to be a great visual merchandiser before you actually decide to put your money out there. The visual merchandiser has to have the ability to construct visuals that sell, just like any other business. This means they have to be able to sell to you - including presenting a resume that makes it seem like you can make an impact with their company. There are several parts of being a visual merchandiser, as mentioned above, but the most important of all, is that you need to know how to construct an example of your writing accomplishments in resume visual merchandiser example. It is important that these examples are set up with pictures, bullet points, and eye- catching paragraphs that lead the reader to believe that they should buy your product. You cannot do any of this if you do not have a resume or sales letters to back it up. How to find happiness Listen to scientists who study it

How to find happiness Listen to scientists who study it We spend so much energy trying to decide what career will make us happy, what job to take, what kind of boss we need. But today happiness is actually a science, and we can teach ourselves to make better decisions faster based on what we know about happiness. This science of happiness is such a popular field that 150 colleges offer courses in it. If you cant take a class, read this article in New York magazine for a fun introduction to the topic. The article is slanted for New Yorkers because New Yorkers are more unhappy than everyone else, (which is unfortunate since I live there). But most of the information in the article is useful to everyone. For example: No matter where they live, human beings are terrible predictors of what will make them happy. This is because our mind plays tricks on us: We are more comfortable with decisions we cant reverse than ones we can. Here is something that really affected me: Those who seek out the best options in life are called maximizers. And maximizers, in practically every study, are far more miserable than people who are willing to make do. One way to stop being a maximizer is to move to where you have fewer choices, (which takes us back to the New York City problem.) Another way is to make choices faster, before you obsessively weigh every possibility. Other zingers: Kids dont make you happy, losing limbs doesnt make you sad, and if you have as much money as the people you hang out with youll feel like you have enough. How can you not be curious about this article? I read it three times. Now, if I could only make better choices

Twitter is full of hidden jobs, but how to find them Enter Twitjobsearch.com University of Manchester Careers Blog

Twitter is full of hidden jobs, but how to find them Enter Twitjobsearch.com University of Manchester Careers Blog When youre looking for jobs or internships, its sometimes hard to know where to look for the kinds of opportunities that interest you. Its easy to just focus on the big job sites, but its like fishing from just one pool that everyone else is fishing from too! And if youre looking for jobs in smaller companies, or in the media, marketing or the creative and digital industries, you might find those sorts of jobs just arent advertised in the normal places. But they ARE out there! Its just that you have to look a bit harder. There are thousands of exciting one-off internships and jobs appearing on Twitter every day, but most people would have no idea where to start looking for them. While Twitter can be a wonderful mine of information, finding that dream job ad can be like finding a needle in a particularly chaotic haystack! So some clever dude had the idea of creating a job search engine just for Twitter. Its called TwitJobSearch.com. Its dead simple. You just put your search criteria into the box, e.g. editorial assistant or paralegal and click on Search. TwitJobSearch then helpfully lists recent tweets with jobs that meet your criteria, including which Twitter account posted the tweet and a link to that tweet on Twitter itself. And you can refine your search by location, salary, job type (referring to permanent or contract) and even how recently the job was tweeted using the filters on the right-hand side of the page. The nice thing is you dont even have to have a Twitter account to make use of this. But if you do have a Twitter account, you might want to check out the TwitJobSearch directory (link at top of page), as this has lists of Twitter accounts tweeting jobs listed by sector, so you could follow these accounts yourself directly and add them to a customised Twitter list instead of using TwitJobSearch. Like any other job search engine, its not perfect. For example, once you narrow down to the type of job youre interested in and to the UK or even a city, youll find more limited results. But its another tool in your job search armoury! All Undergraduate Undergraduate-highlighted Internships job hunting social media Twitter work experience

Resumes Job Search Tips - Why You Need to Think About Your Resume Before You Send It

Resumes Job Search Tips - Why You Need to Think About Your Resume Before You Send ItIf you're not sure what your resume means, resumes job search tips should help you improve your chances of landing a new job. In this article we will look at a few of the most important points that you should be aware of.The first thing you need to do is to make sure that your resume has a unique quality to it. Your future employer is going to be looking for something unique that you have to offer them and you can do this by coming up with a summary of the main qualities that you have. This is where you tell them exactly what your particular abilities are and what you can do for them in the company.Once you have outlined your qualifications, you need to include any additional training or business skills that you may have. Again, your future employer is likely to be asking you about things that they don't know about so you need to make sure that you list these off as well. You might also consider inclu ding letters of recommendation from people who can vouch for your capability to work in a team environment. If you are looking for extra time to finish your work then add this into your resume. Your potential employer doesn't want to spend time looking at a long hard copy document that has nothing to do with the task at hand. It is important to get the feeling that you were able to meet the deadline you set for yourself, and that you were able to deliver on the tasks that you needed to complete. You should also highlight any experiences or qualifications that you think your potential employer will find relevant.Don't forget to list all of your previous employers. The last thing you want to do is leave them out of your resume, especially if they weren't particularly desirable places to work. Include details such as how long you worked there, the name of the person who was in charge, the type of workload that you handled and what duties were involved. Don't forget to mention any promot ions that you achieved. When describing your employable character you should make sure that you keep things simple and don't run yourself off the track. You don't need to go into a lot of detail so that you look like a muck-raking bureaucrat, just say how you performed in a particular position and what you can do for them in the future.Last but not least, make sure that you proofread your well-written resume before you send it out to your prospective employers. The reason that you should proofread it is that your resume is something that is looking for a job so it needs to be perfect for the sake of your future employer. If there are some spelling mistakes or inconsistencies then your prospective employer will find this hard to read.If you follow the advice that we have given in this article you should be able to take the best advantage of resume job search tips. The most important aspect of having a good resume is to make sure that you write it in such a way that it is easy to read, and not difficult to understand.
